“The Romanian language fights and lives. We love it and it loves us,” the head of the Tighina-based high school “Alexandru cel Bun” Maria Roibu stated for Info-Prim Neo, when asked to say how Romanian feels in the grip of the secessionist Transnistrian regime. “The students and teachers of our school as well as the parents guard the language and Latin script throughout the year. We will celebrate the National Language Day with performances of music, poetry and dance,” Maria Roibu said. Eugenia Halus, the head of the Rybnitsa-based high school “Evrica”, said the students of the school feel and know the real value of the Romanian language in their lives, probably better than their fellows who live on the right bank of the Nistru. We will celebrate our language with songs and poems,” she stressed. Romanian at the high school “Stefan cel Mare” in Grigoriopol town is also venerated. “We hope the Romanian language feels well in our school as we render homage to it every year and protect it daily from insults and Russianisms. We raise real patriots and intellectuals who are proficient in several languages,” said the school's deputy head Alexei Mocreac. There are eight Romanian language schools in the Transnistrian region at present. They teach Romanian Latin script on the basis of programs approved by the Ministry of Education of Moldova. In the education institutions controlled by the Transnistrian regime, the same language is called “Moldovan” and is taught using the Cyrillic scrip.
