Romanian Language Day has many planned events

The symposium „1900 Years of Romanism” will gather historians and scientists from the Republic of Moldova, Romania and other countries. The activities with occasion of the 17th anniversary of the declaration of the Romanian language as state language and the adoption of the Latin method of writing will commence on August 30. These activities are organized by the Writer’s Union, local public authorities from Chisinau, supported by the National Library, Pro-Noi Association, Cultural Association Vatra, and Republican House of child and youth creativity. The interim head of the Municipal Direction of Culture, Leonid Gorceac, asserts that there are other 2 events prepared for August 30: the initiation of the commemorative board in the honor of „1900 years of Romanism” and the re-opening of the mini-library of the Pro-Noi Association, after which Maria Biesu will hold a recital in the House of Romanian Language. The day of August 31 will begin with the deployment of flowers at the statue of Stefan cel Mare, after which at 9:15 flowers will be laid at the monuments in The Alley of Classics of the Romanian Literature in the Stefan cel Mare public garden. There will also be poem and musical recitals, the latest editorials will be dispaleyed together with the craftsmanship items of the students from educational institutions of Chisinau municipal. At 12:00 in the headquarters of the Writers Union there will be the Symposium of the Philologists with scientists from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, France, Germany, Russian Federation, the Ukraine and other countries. Meanwhile, in the „Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” Public Park a concert with artists from Buiucani region will take place. In memory of our predecessors that praised the comeback to national traditions and Romanian language in their songs, Ion Vatamanu, Noicolae Costin, Ion Dumeniuc, Nicolae Sulac, Ion şi Doina Aldea-Teodorovici, Petru Teodorovici and other eminent personalities that took part in the events of 1989, as well as the in the memory of soldiers who fought for the integrity of the motherland there will be an requiem starting with 12:00 at the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca Street. At the National Library there will be a “Top 2005 books” festivity included in the National Book Store. Between 14.00 and 17.00 in the “Stefan cel Mare” public park there will be a Concert with local singers and child choruses and the show of music and poetry “Memorial to the Word”. The national celebration regime will end with an extraordinary show with play of the Folk music orchestra „Folclor” and singers of national music from Moldova and Romania. The show will take place in the Green Theatre, a place that housed the national rebirth since the end of the 80’s.
