An Information Center of Romania was opened at the Balti-based State University “Alecu Russo”. This is designed to contribute to the expansion of the presence of the Romanian language in the region. Contacted by IPN, the University’s pro-rector Igor Cojocaru said this is the second center of the kind inaugurated in Moldova. The first works at the State University of Comrat, IPN reports.

The Center will provide support for projects and programs to perfect the Romanian language, thematic workshops in history, geography and Romanian civilization, formation sessions and sessions to familiarize the participants with t EU themes, debates on topical Romanian subjects and actions to promote Romania and the Romanian culture.

The pro-rector said the center is open to anyone, even if it was set up inside the University’s Scientific Library. “Access is free to the whole community, not only to the university personnel and students,” stated Igor Cojocaru.

The Information Center of Romania was opened after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania signed an agreement to this effect with the State University “Alecu Russo”.
