Romania's consulate general in Balti was opened on July 9 in the presence of the Romanian and Moldovan Foreign Ministers Teodor Baconschi and Iurie Leanca, who cut the inaugural ribbon, Info-Prim Neo reports. “There are all the preconditions needed for the two consulates, in Balti and Cahul, to become an important milestone in the bilateral relations,” the Romanian minister said. Teodor Baconschi said the inauguration of the consulates was possible owing to the cooperation between the Governments of Moldova and Romania. “We show how fruitful the sincere cooperation between the two Governments and how beneficial the effects of the agreement between Bucharest and Chisinau can be,” he said. Iurie Leanca said the opening of the two consulates is a key event for the two countries. He stressed that the bilateral relations returned to normality after the new administration took power in Moldova and are now based on European values and common interests. The Romanian consulate in Balti will start work on July 12.
