Romanian Foreign Minister and EU Representative for Moldova held talks on Transnistria issue

Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Adrian Cioroianu met with the EU Special Representative for Moldova Kalman Mizsei to discuss the latest developments in the Transnistria settlement as well as the important aspects of the relations between the European Union and Moldova. According to a press release from the Romanian Government, the minister pointed out the necessity to identify in a transparent way a sustainable and equitable solution, which will respect the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Moldova. Minister Adrian Cioroianu reiterated the importance of supporting and encouraging Moldova in its European aspiration and democratic reforms. The minister also emphasised the opportunities provided by the EU neighbourhood for the development of the dialogue between Brussels and Chisinau and guaranteed Romania’s support for Moldova’s EU entry. The visit of the EU Special Representative is part of regular consultations between the European official and the Romanian leadership. This is the third visit of Kalman Mizsei to Bucharest during his tenure.
