The Romanian Film Festival in Chisinau was rescheduled for a date that will be announced later, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest said. The event was to take place during April 11-17. Ecaterina Dumbraveanu, of the visual arts division of the Romanian Cultural Institute, told Info-Prim Neo that the festival was not cancelled, but postponed owing to the unrest in Chisinau. “Many of our colleagues recommended rescheduling the festival. From the very beginning we planned a cultural event and want to detach ourselves from the internal political problems in Chisinau,” Ecaterina Dumbraveanu said. “Furthermore, we are not sure that the car with the movies will be allowed to cross the border. “We come to Chisinau with pleasure and hope that it will be a nice event. We are a serious institution and do not undertake propaganda, but we run the risk of being suspected of this.” The newest and most awarded Romanian movies of the past few years were to be screened during the festival. The Romanian Film Festival in Chisinau is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest with the support of the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, Moldova-Film Studio and the National Center of Cinematography.
