In half a year of the launch of the Romanian Film Centenary in Chisinau, on April 27, the project returns to Moldova with the last two screenings. The film “Childhood memories” will be shown at the National House in Nisporeni town on November 3, starting at 4pm. The film features actress native of Nisporeni Corina Constantinescu, who plays the part of Nica’s mother. On November 4, starting at 6pm, the Odeon Cinema will host the screening of the film “Sentence”, directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu, which features actress Ioana Pavelescu, Corina Constantinescu’s daughter, IPN reports.

Valentina Iusuphodjaev, PR manager in Moldova of the project “Romanian Film Centenary”, told a news conference that the project had a special impact by the Romanian films taken to localities in Moldova. “We set the goal of presenting films outside Chisinau and in 15 localities in northern and central Moldova as the situation at the local level there is dramatic. There are no cinemas there and we saw young people who watched for the first time a screened film. It is said to see teens aged 16-18 who confessed that they have never been to a cinema,” stated Valentina Iusuphodjaev.

Andrei Giurgia, manager of the project for Romania, said the idea of organizing such a festival with 100 films in 100 localities is very important. The shown films are not watched whenever and wherever. “We do not see these films on TV as they were picked from the archive of the Romanian cinematography,” he stated, noting the films had a special impact on the spectators. “We saw emotions on their faces after they watched these films both in Romania and in Moldova. After the screenings, they approached the organizers to find out details about the films, actors and directors.”

For actress Ioana Pavelescu the stay in Chisinau is like a ‘return home’ even if she is in Bessarabia for the first time. “I love Bessarabia. I have had it in my soul throughout my childhood and life owing to the stories told by my mother who was born in Nisporeni and has longed for Bessarabia all her life. I feel the daughter of Bessarabia. I’m proud of this. I love Bessarabia and deplore the fate that separated us brutally and against our will,” stated the actress.

Actress Ileana Popovici, who is native of Bessarabia, said that by the brought films, the Romanian Film Centenary enables the people to come closer and know each other better. “By these films we can know the history, culture and can thus come closer. By these films we fell closer, in the cinema halls where we wait for you with love and longing!” she stated.
