The Embassy of Romania to Moldova states that visas for entering Romania will be granted to Moldovan citizens free of charge, and the expenses for visa application form will be covered from the budget of the Romanian Foreign Ministry, a press release reports. The Embassy’s statement followed rumors spread by certain mass-media institutions from Moldova. A number of media institutions from Moldova have recently reported, based on diplomatic sources, that people applying for visa will have to pay to the Romanian state USD 71 for a multiple-entry visa and USD 36 for a single-entry visa, plus USD 5 for the visa application form. The gratis visas granting to Moldovan citizens for entering Romania as of 1 January 2007 is stipulated in the Agreement reached by the Governments of Romania and Moldova regarding the travel regime for citizens signed on October 20, in Bucharest, by the Foreign ministers of the two states.
