The Embassy of Romania in Chisinau anticipates that a larger number of Moldovans holding Romanian nationality will take part in the second round of the presidential elections of Romania that will be held on November 16. Ambassador Marius Lazurca told a news conference that they project more than 22,000 people to cast their ballots, which is the number of voters in the first round of the elections, IPN reports.
The diplomat said practice shows that more people usually vote in the second round of the presidential elections than in the first round. Also, voting will be simpler as the ballot will contain only two names. The form of the own responsibility statement can be downloaded and filled out beforehand. Most of those who will cast their ballots in the second round had taken part in elections and know the electoral procedures.
The own responsibility statement is available on the official website of the Embassy, but those who will present it must indicate the date and put their signatory only before the head of the polling place, warned the ambassador.
The voting starts at 1am and ends at 9pm. There will be set up 21 polling places, four of which in Chisinau. If necessary, the number of polling booths will be increased in some of them. In the first round of the presidential elections, more than 10,000 people voted in Chisinau. Marius Lazurca urged the people who can to vote in other towns too so as to avoid the formation of queues.
The second round of voting involves candidates for presidency Victor Ponta and Klaus Iohannis.
