The Minister of Defense of Moldova Anatolie Nosatyi had a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Angel Tîlvăr, who paid an official visit to Chisinau on Monday. The two officials took part in the handover of a lot of personal protective equipment provided by Romania. The lot consisted of protective casks, bulletproof vests and off-road vehicles. Minister of National Defense Angel Tîlvăr reiterated the readiness to further support the objective to modernize the National Army through the series of joint programs and projects implemented with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the two defense institutions, IPN reports.

“Indisputably, Romania has been and will remain one of the firmest supporters of our country. The friends from Romania repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to step up cooperation in security and defense with our country,” Anatolie Nosatyi stated in the meeting.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova, the two ministers discussed the bilateral cooperation in defense, the assistance provided by the Government of Romania to help modernize the National Army and the security situation in the region. A separate subject was the Ministry of Defense’s intention to become a full-fledged member of the politico-military dialogue platform South-Eastern Europe Defense Ministerial (SEDM), given that the rotating presidency of the SEDM Coordination Committee was taken over by Romania on July 1, 2023.

The sides underlined the importance of the expertise provided by specialists of the subdivisions of the Ministry of National Defense to Moldovan counterparts in the process of designing strategic documents needed for the efficient functioning of the national defense and security system.

It is noteworthy that Minister Angel Tîlvăr made an official visit to Chisinau at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart Anatolie Nosatyi.
