The Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania on July 2 approved the bills to ratify the Association Agreements between the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and the member states, on the one hand, and Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine, on the other hand, which were signed in Brussels on June 27, IPN reports, quoting Agerpres.
Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta told the journalists he is very glad that Romania is the first country that performs the procedure for ratifying first of all the accord with Moldova and the accords with Ukraine and Georgia as well. “I know that the Baltic States also take swift actions. We are happy that the Parliament in Chisinau ratified the agreement as we had emotions about it,” he stated.
On this occasion, Victor Ponta congratulated Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Head of Parliament Igor Corman. “I think it is a historical moment with a significance that we do not yet fell enough, but it is a huge step taken by those from over the Prut River, not only in the European integration process, but also in the rapprochement with us,” he stated.
On July 2, Moldova’s Parliament ratified the Association Agreement with the European Union by 59 votes in favor.
