A tender contest to acquire head offices for the two general consulates of Romania in Balti and Cahul has been announced. The envelopes with tenders will be opened on December 2, Alexandru Muresan, charge d’ affaires of Romania in Moldova and deputy head of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau, told a news conference, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We cannot say how soon these consulates will be opened because a number of factors should be taken into account. Certainly, both of the parties want that they become operational as soon as possible,” Muresan said. Romania’s President Traian Basescu on November 2 issued two decrees, ordering setting up Romanian consulates in Balti and Cahul. Moldova’s Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca said the Moldovan authorities are also considering the possibility of opening a general consulate of Moldova in Iasi.
