The Government of Moldova should focus on the internal obstacles faced in the European integration process, Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, being quoted by IPN.

The diplomat considers that these obstacles include the dissatisfaction of the Gagauz people and the Moldovans expelled from Russia, who will experience economic difficulties when they return home, and of the agricultural producers exporting to Russia. The last problem can be solved by signing a Free Trade Agreement.

As to the external security, Marius Lazurca said the strengthening of the relations with the European Union will ensure Moldova’s security at foreign level.

The program’s permanent invitee Cristian Tabara said that at the current stage Moldova is no longer as vulnerable as to be afraid of Russia. The Moldovan citizens should detach themselves from the mentality and habit of living under Russian rule.

The ambassador also said that Romania wants the population census to be taken correctly in Moldova as the economic and social support policies of Russia and the EU will depend on the census results. Romania is one of the main donors of money for taking this census.

According to Marius Lazurca, the Romanian authorities are curious to know how many Moldovans will say that they speak Romanian, but the linguistic aspect is not the main expectation of this census.
