Romania will devote increased attention to the Republic of Moldova in the dialogue with the EU member states when Romania takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1, 2019, President of the Senate of Romania Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu assured in a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip in Bucharest on November 22, IPN reports.

Premier Filip said Romania remains a strategic partner and a real friend of the Republic of Moldova and this fact was proven by the constant support assistance offered to our country in implementing economic and social projects.

The officials noted the dynamic political dialogue developed in the spirit of the Strategic Partnership for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova and the good cooperation level between the legislatures of both of the states, in particular the activity of the Interparliamentary Commission for European Integration.

Pavel Filip thanked for the support provided by the Parliament of Romanian to Moldova on the path of European integration, underlining the European integration remains a major objective of the country.

Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu inquired about the internal political developments in Moldova, stressing the necessity of continuing reforms, including those related to the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and the EU.
