The Romanian Ministry of Education will annually allocate 2550 places for students from Moldova, including 950 in pre-higher education. Another 1,100 places will be in higher education, 450 for master’s degree studies and 50 for doctoral studies. These places will be awarded following admission procedures held by Romanian public educational institutions.

The award of scholarships is part of a protocol signed in the context of the joint meeting of the governments of Moldova and Romania. The activities included in the collaboration protocol between the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research and the Romanian Ministry of Education cover the period 2022-2026.

The protocol stipulates that the Moldovan Ministry of Education will annually award 200 scholarships to young people from Romania in three sub-tiers of higher education. Also, the Moldovan side will offer scholarships for academic mobility, will organize internships for students in Romania who are studying for their bachelor's, master's and doctorate, training and specialization internships for teachers in pre-university, university and research education.

The protocol also provides for the collaboration of the two parties in inviting students from Moldova and Romania to participate in science Olympiads and student competitions organized by either party.
