Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă said that Romanian proved by deeds that it is the most sincere and reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. Among the relevant examples are the provision of €10.3 million in direct budget support, the supply of electrical energy, firewood for heating, crude oil, fuels and others forms of assistance. In a news conference given in Bucharest alongside Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Nicolae Ciucă assured that Romania will continue supporting the Republic of Moldova in its efforts to overcome the current crisis and the hybrid pressure to which it is subjected, IPN reports.

“Romania has permanently promoted, including in Brussels, the necessity of supporting the Republic of Moldova at a number of levels so that it resists the very assertive attitude of Russia,” noted the Romanian official.

The interlocutors discussed the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova in direct connection with the reform efforts made by the Government in Chisinau to strengthen the justice system, build the rule of law, optimize administration and improve the economic environment.

The Romanian official also spoke about the infrastructure projects, noting the building of the road bridge over the Prut between Albița and Leușeni. According to him, there are also other infrastructure projects, such as the easing of border traffic.

“We want a lot and will act in this regard so as to increase investments in the Republic of Moldova. We discussed and agreed to take the opportunities and realize the business potential of the two countries. There is cooperation potential that can be broadly developed and I think the economic and commercial areas can provide support to the Romanian citizens and also to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” said Nicolae Ciucă.

For his part, Dorin Recean said it was normal for his first visit abrade to be paid to Bucharest as Romania is the most important partner of the Republic of Moldova, which helped a lot in overcoming the economic crisis and which remains an advocate in all the European institutions so that the Republic of Moldova could advance on its path of European integration in an accelerated way. “The close relationship between Chisinau and Bucharest is strengthened now by multiple concrete projects for the benefit of our citizens. I refer to projects in the economic, commercial, energy, infrastructure and internal affairs sector and, as you noted, in such very important sectors as defense and security, education, culture and health,” stated the official.

According to the Moldovan Premier, Chisinau offers multiple opportunities to the business community. In this regard, Dorin Recean called on the businesspeople from the two banks of the Prut to expand their business operations and to realize the existing economic potential.

The Premier noted that the delegations of the two countries agreed to organize the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in the near future. They also discussed the development of the strategic partnership in the energy sector that has great potential. The sides also considered facilitating the signing of long-term contracts for the purchase of electricity and natural gas with companies from the right side of the Prut.
