Cristian Diaconescu, Romania's incoming Foreign Minister, stated he seeks “to prevent Chisinau from losing the advantage it has over Ukraine in the relations with the EU”, Ziua newspaper reports, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The Romanian official said he also wanted to “avoid Chisinau's detachment from the South-East European dynamics”. According to him, the “controversial relationship” between Romania and the Republic of Moldova can be remedied insofar as the Romanian authorities manage to bring the EU at a dialogue with the Republic of Moldova. “The transatlantic dialogue has, in this context, a significant importance”, Diaconescu added. Concerning the settlement of the Transnistrian issue, Diaconescu declared that “arrangements which violate the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova, like Kozak II, are unacceptable”.
