The ninth meeting of the Joint Commission for European Integration between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania was held in Chisinau on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Union between Bessarabia and Romania. The Commission’s co-chairman Petru Frunze, of the Party of Action and Solidarity, said that the meeting was aimed at stimulating the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the EU with Romania’s support, IPN reports.
“Romania is a partner, friend and brother in the process of integration into the European Union. We are supported at all the levels so that we implement the EU’s recommendations. We hope a lot that we will be further supported by the partners from Romania so that we bring the European integration process to an end, as our society wants. Our place is in the EU, which can ensure peace and welfare,” stated Petru Frunze.
He expressed his conviction that alongside Romania, the Republic of Moldova will cover all the required steps on the road to the EU.
The co-chairman of the Commission on behalf of the Parliament of Romania Andrei Daniel said that the support offered by Romania to the Republic of Moldova does not stop at simple statements and is comprehensive and covers all the areas as Moldova’s integration into the EU is a national strategy priory for Romania. The accession procedure for Moldova should be a swift one and without any delay given the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
“The Republic of Moldova proved that it can cope with the pandemic crisis and also with the energy crisis and the refugee crisis. It clearly showed that it committed itself to do democratic reforms. We believe that at bilateral level and by the diplomatic channels from which Romania benefits and also through the full support we show at the level of the Parliament of Romania, we will be able to rapidly stimulate the overcoming of all the difficult moments that precede the accession negotiations,” stated Andrei Daniel, noting he is confident that the Republic of Moldova will soon be part of the big European family.
