Gheorghe Cârciu, state secretary of the Department for Romanians Everywhere (DRP), says that it is natural for people to choose where and how to live. “Our duty, as the Romanian state, is to support Romanians where they live. Our duty, of Romania, is alive and we assume it, to support the Republic of Moldova in joining the European community”, declared the Romanian official at the Moldovan Diaspora Congress taking place in Chisinau.

“Romanians everywhere, welcome home! Why do I say Romanians everywhere? For the simple fact that the vast majority of Moldovan citizens are also Romanians from everywhere, whether they live in Moldova or live outside the borders of our country. Some have Romanian citizenship, others don’t, but equally they are Romanians from everywhere. And you are welcome at home anytime, we are waiting for you with great love, at home in Bucharest or at home in Chisinau”, declared Gheorghe Cârciu.

The Department for Romanians Everywhere promotes the policies of the Romanian Government in order to support Romanians all over the world. Romania continues to provide support for the Republic of Moldova, including in joining the European community. “Just as a parent has the duty to support their child, Romania also has the duty to support the Republic of Moldova and it does so successfully, I would say. There is always room for improvement, of course. We are striving and we believe that together we will succeed in achieving our goal, that of entering the European community with full rights”, Gheorghe Cârciu added.

The 10th Diaspora Congress is taking place as part of the Diaspora Days on August 18 and 19.
