Romania has extended the state of alert for another 30 days. The Romanian citizens who are on Moldova’s territory, including persons with dual or multiple nationality, one of which is Romanian, are allowed to enter Romania without quarantining on condition that they haven’t visited one or several red-zone countries or areas during the past 14 days. The Republic of Moldova is not on this list.

In a press release, Romania’s Embassy in Moldova informs the foreign citizens who are on Moldova’s territory that the removal of Moldova from the list of red-zone countries didn’t modify the conditions of entering Romania. The persons are allowed to enter Romania only if they match the exceptions stipulated by the current legislation. The persons who come from the Republic of Moldova will be exempted from quarantining on condition that, before arriving in Romania, they hadn’t visited a country with a high epidemiological risk.

The persons who arrive in Romania from red-zone countries also do not have to quarantine if they remain on the national territory for a period shorter than three days (72 hours) and present a negative test for SARS-CoV-2 done within 48 hours before entering the national territory. The tests should be done by authorized labs, while the results should contain the person’s identification data.

For special situations like participation in family events related to birth, marriage or death, trips for surgery or medical treatment that cannot be put off, the quarantine measures can be suspended on the presentation of confirming documents and of the COVID-19 test.

All the persons who cross Romania and do not have symptoms typical of the infection with the novel coronavirus, regardless of the country of origin or of destination, are not subject to quarantine. To be able to cross Romania, the persons must prove that their trip is justified. The transit must last for at most 24 hours and the route must go through specially created corridors.

The Embassy recommends all the persons to permanently inform themselves only from official sources (https://stirioficiale.ro/informatii) about the entry and stay in Romania before starting the trip so as not to face refusal of entry at border crossing points.
