Elections for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, where 136 senators and 329 deputies are to be chosen, will be held this Sunday, December 1. At the 950 polling stations established abroad, including the 59 polling stations available in the Republic of Moldova, it will be possible to vote for two days – Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1 - between 07:00 a.m. and 09:00 p.m.

The electoral race involves 31 parties and alliances, as well as 19 organizations of national minorities.

RFE/RL’s Moldovan Service said that 639 candidates for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies represent the Social Democratic Party (PSD), 636 - the party SOS Romania, 630 - the National Liberal Party (PNL).

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has 621 candidates, the Force of the Right – 619, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) – 596. Another 589 candidates come from the Save Romania Union (USR).

The voting-eligible Romanian citizens who reside or are temporarily abroad can vote in the Romanian parliamentary elections at any of the polling stations established outside the country, with an identity document issued by the Romanian state, valid on election day.

In the Republic of Moldova, the electors can vote at 59 polling stations, 16 of which are in Chisinau.

At the Romanian presidential election held last week, almost 81,000 citizens voted at the 59 polling stations opened in the Republic of Moldova.
