The Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Ciucă announced in Chisinau the disbursement of the first tranche of €25 million of the €100 million support program financed by the Government of Romania. The current stage of the program was discussed in a meeting with President Maia Sandu, IPN reports.
Nicolae Ciucă said the Government of Romania reaffirmed the unconditional support for the Republic of Moldova in the European course and the assistance in strengthening the economy and maintaining stability and security in front of the challenges faced in the region.
“The visit to Chisinau, which is a cordial place for the Romanians, offers me the occasion for reaffirming the unconditional support for the Republic of Moldova in the European course and for developing the economy, doing reforms and ensuring the wellbeing of all its citizens. I want to appreciate in particular the exemplary way in which the authorities of the Republic of Moldova have managed the security situation and current threats with broad international support. Romania will always stand by the Republic of Moldova, regardless of the difficulty of the security issues in the region,” stated the Romanian official.
President Maia Sandu presented the steps made by the Republic of Moldova for fulfilling the nine recommendations of the European Commission so as to prepare the opening of accession negotiations with the EU. She welcomed the special cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova in overcoming the challenges generated by the repeated attempts to destabilize the political and social situation made by Russia.
As regards cooperation in the business sector, the sides expressed their readiness to encourage the business communities from both sides of the Prut to cooperate in the fields of mutual interest that can help realize the economic development potential.
Also today, the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis said in Brussels, before the meeting of the European Council, that the Republic of Moldova will receive consistent additional assistance from the European Union. “I think this is very important for Moldova and for us, for the whole Europe. It is unacceptable to allow Moldova to become a victim of disinformation, hybrid attacks and verbal threats on the part of Russia,” said the Romanian official.
