The meat processing company FPC “Rogob” SRL obtained controlling interest in the Chisinau-based central universal store UNIC. In an outcry auction staged by the Public Property Agency on April 4, this purchased 68 174 shares in the store, which is a holding of 85.45%. The announcement was made by the company through a press release, IPN reports.

“Rogob” director general Igor Rosca said the purchase of the majority shareholding in SA UNIC forms part of the company’s long-term investment strategy and of the business development and diversification plan.

The new owner of the majority shareholding does not intend to change the store’s line of business. This will be modernized and transformed into an interesting commercial project designed to meet the most modern trends and the needs and expectations of the residents and visitors of Chisinau. “We plan to transform the facility into a successful private business, an important employer and taxpayer to the state budget,” stated Igor Rosca.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the state-owned shareholding of 85.45% in SA UNIC was sold for over 252 million lei.
