Under a bill approved by the Government, the excise duties on oil products will rise by 10.3% from January 1, 2013. The local tax for owners of units of transport will be annulled, but there will be introduced taxes for exceeding certain weight limits set for trucks and other heavy vehicles.
The road taxes for vehicles registered in Moldova will be increased, depending on the capacity, while the road toll for vehicles that are not registered in Moldova will be doubled, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the rise in excise duties on oil products should not lead to an increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel as these prices also consist of the purchase price and other elements. The regulations concerning the setting of oil prices are now being improved.
As regards the doubling of the road toll, the Premier said they tried to adjust it to the taxes in the neighboring countries. On the other hand, the doubling of the road toll will make the persons to register the vehicles at home.
The road toll for seven days will be €4, for 15 days – €8, for 30 days – €14, for 90 days - €30, while for half a year – €50. The bill is to be adopted by Parliament.
