Works to mark the streets in the capital city could start in about two weeks. After the results of the first tender contest to purchase paint were challenged, the local authorities reassessed the bids and chose another winner.

Contacted by IPN for details, the director of the municipal road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Marcel Zastynchanu said the results of the new tender contest can be challenged until May 4. If there are no objections, the contract with the new winner will be signed. The contractor has two weeks to supply the materials needed for road markings. If the weather permits, the works will be launched.

Marcel Zastynchanu stated there will be bought about 70 tonnes of acryl-based paint, similar to the one used now to put road markings two times a year. Of these, approximately 40 tonnes will be used at the first stage, while the rest in September. About 2 million lei will be spent on paint.

According to the chief of “Exdrupo”, nearly two months are needed to mark all the streets in the city, if the weather is favorable. The crosswalks near education institutions will be marked the first. The works are not late as they are usually started in May, when the average temperature is +15 degrees Celsius. The level of moisture should be under 70%.

The tender contest involved five national business entities.
