The road carries that will break the transit customs regime during days with traffic jams caused by heavy snowfalls will not be fined. Under an ordinance issued by the Customs Service, the transit period was extended by eight days, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Such a proposal was submitted by the International Road Carriers Association, the organization's director Dumitru Albulesa told the Agency. According to the Customs Service' press office, the ordinance aimed at easing the movement of freight traffic was issued on December 17. It extended the transit period by eight days, i.e. by December 24.
The truck drivers will present documents showing they have been unable to move owing to the weather conditions and congestion at the customs post. The documents will be issued by the competent bodies.
The ordinance allows the carriers to ask the customs bodies to extend the transit period on weather-related grounds. Customs officers will examine the applications and write the day when they were submitted. The period is extended automatically by eight days from that day.
The Customs Service offer the carriers the possibility of changing the route and finishing the transit operations through the customs posts where the traffic is less heavy.
Dumitru Albulesa said the trucks are already allowed to enter Ukraine. Several days ago, the customs posts located on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, especially those situated in the south, were blocked.
The situation at the customs post Tudora remained unchanged. Several trucks have been blocked there for four days. The Ukrainian border guards do not allow them to pass as the roads to Odessa are now being cleared of snow.
