The right to monthly child benefit could be claimed optionally as of January 1 2020. The recipient could chose to collect the benefit until the child turns three in the amount of 30% of the calculation basis set for each year or until the child turns two in the amount of 60% of the calculation basis for the first year and 30% for the second year. The choice made initially cannot be modified later. Parliament passed amendments to this effect after considering them in the final reading, IPN reports.
As of July 1, 2019, the persons who get child benefit could also receive a salary in parallel. Thus, if the mother or the father of the child who receives benefit goes to work before the childcare leave expires, the monthly benefit continues to be paid and the person receives the salary and also the benefit. If the person leaves the job before the expiry of this period, the monthly child benefit continues to be paid until the leave expires.
