Revenues in electronic communications sector up 4%

The revenues from the sale of electronic communications services – mobile telephone, dedicated mobile Internet access, fixed-line telephone and data transmission, program broadcasting and retransmission services – in the first three months of the year rose by about 4% on last year to over 1.5 billion lei, shows a report by the ICT regulator ANRCETI, IPN reports.

According to the report, the rise in revenues in the first quarter stemmed mainly from the increase in the number of users of services on all the five markets and in the volume of sales on three markets - mobile telephone, dedicated mobile Internet access, fixed Internet and data transmission.

The incomes earned on the mobile phone market grew by 4.4% to 802.9 million lei, on the fixed Internet access and data transmission market – by 21% to 226.6 million lei, while on the dedicated mobile Internet access market – by 29.9% to 66.8 million lei. The sales on the fixed-line telephone market came to 357.8 million lei, down 7%, while on the program broadcasting and retransmission services market to 72.9 million lei, down 4.6%.

The number of users of dedicated mobile Internet access services rose by 30.2% to about 188,000, of fixed Internet access and data transmission services – by 15.3% to 432,100, while of mobile phone services – by 17% to over 4 million. The number of subscribers to fixed telephones increased by 2.2% to over 1 million, while to multichannel TV services – by 5.8% to 279,400.

The monthly average revenue per user on the fixed Internet access services market was the highest – 142.5 lei. On the dedicated mobile Internet access services market, this indicator was 121.5 lei, on the fixed-line telephone market – 101.7 lei, on the mobile phone market – 64.6 lei, while on the multichannel TV services market – 48.1 lei.
