Resumption of fruit and vegetable exports to Russia under discussion

Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in a meeting with Russia’s Ambassador in Chisinau Farit Muhametshin, considered possibilities of resuming the export of Moldovan fruit and vegetables to Russia. According to the Government’s press service, the two officials discussed the current state of the bilateral relations and their development and noted the potential of the Moldovan-Russian cooperation at multiple levels, IPN reports.

Special attention in the discussion was devoted to the resumption of exports. It was underlined the necessity for the responsible institutions of the two countries to have direct discussions so as to liquidate the technical barriers to the bilateral trade. Pavel Filip said that Moldova is interested in stimulating economic cooperation and increasing trade with Russia.

The officials also raised the subject of migration of labor force and the necessity of ensuring the social protection of the Moldovans working in Russia.

In another development, the Russian ambassador transmitted to the Premier a message of congratulation on the occasion of the Victory Day celebrated on May 9 from his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. In this connection, the two discussed the actions taken by the Government to celebrate Victory Day and to commemorate the heroes killed in battle during World War II, stressing the importance of remembering the war veterans and of strengthening society around the general human values.
