Advertisements on trolleybuses in Chisinau won’t be placed on the whole surface of the trolleybus anymore. Ads will be placed only around the windows and not on the glass itself.
Gheorghe Morgoci, the director of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company (RTEC), told Info-Prim Neo that there are currently two trolleybuses that still have their windows covered with ads. They will remain like that until the end of the year, when the contract with the ad company expires. The future contracts will be reviewed and changed so that there would be no more ads on the windows.
The measure aims to avoid annoying the passengers and to maintain their comfort. Some passengers complained they can’t see the street and that they don’t feel well in a closed space.
According to the RTEC director, placing advertisements on trolleybuses brings an income of 3-4 million lei per year. Companies are charged about 20,000-30,000 lei for placing ads on a trolleybus per year. The ads vary from pharmaceutical products to food products and many others.
Gheorghe Morgoci announced that there would be no ads placed on the new trolleybuses assembled in Belarus, at least until the expiration of their warranty.
