The imposition of travel restrictions on the people living in the Transnistrian region by the Transnistrian administration represents a risk to the exercise of the right to vote in the presidential elections. In the current conditions, the ferryboat is the only means for traveling to the left side of the Nistru. But this could be overcrowded on the election day, the Bureau for Reintegration Policies said, warning the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.
In the CEC’s meeting, the Commission’s president Dorin Cimil said the Bureau for Reintegration Policies sent a notification, warning that the freedom of expression and the necessity of lifting until November 1 the restrictions imposed by Tiraspol on the pretext of the pandemic remain on the agenda of discussions. The document makes reference to the posts and barriers set up in the Security Zone.
Dorin Cimil also said that the CEC received the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration’s notice concerning the polling stations that are to be established abroad and the localities where these will be established, but didn’t give details about the number mentioned by the Ministry.
The CEC took note of the received information.
