The National Association of Restaurants and Leisure Facilities (MĂR) is dissatisfied with the fact that the new anti-COVID-19 restrictions cover again the hotels, restaurants and cafes, not yet the places where there are crowds of people, such as markets and public transport. In a post on Facebook, the Association said the authorities continue to take decisions that disfavor particular sectors of the economy. “The restrictions for the hospitality industry are the harshest again: reduced work program, from 7am until 10pm, utilization of 50% of the capacities in the hall + presentation of the COVID restrictions.
“All these decisions are taken as if out of inertia. It was already proven that the restrictions for the hospitality industry do not influence the rise or decline in the number of cases of infection, while the restrictions imposed on other areas have a significant influence. But the restrictions in these areas haven’t been appropriately obeyed and state inspections haven’t been properly performed. The COVID was busy as it was at the restaurant, waiting for the authorities,” says the Association’s statement that is quoted by IPN.
According to employers from the hospitality industry, it would be logical for the restrictions and control to be harsher where there are crowds of people, like on public transport and at the market. The hospitality industry does not operate properly, but it has to pay salaries, debts and even thrice higher bills.
“The current government is as absent as the previous ones. Nothing has changed in essence and everyone survives as they can. Our calls remained unheard, while our arguments weren’t taken into account. We are alone in front of the pandemic,” runs the statement.
