A number of buildings at the Old Orhei Reserve in Moldova, as well as the George Enescu Memorial House in Liveni, Romania, will be restored as part of the cross-border project “History and Music: Values that Bring Us Together”, accessed within the 2014-2020 Romania-Moldova Joint Operational Program.

Andrei Chistol, state secretary at the Moldovan Ministry of Culture, said that, after a period of preparations and documentation, the project is about to start. “The Old Orhei cultural-natural reserve is the destination most visited by foreign tourists. Investments in the development of tourist infrastructure will contribute to a better positioning of this site among the top preferences of foreign tourists”, said the official.

According to Andrei Chistol, the restoration is to be completed within two years, with some designing work already done. The restoration effort in Romania will be carried out in parallel.

The project has a total budget of over 1.3 million euros, obtained as a result of the partnership between the Botoșani County Museum of History and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova. Over 70% of the entire budget will go to restorations in Old Orhei.
