The new executive secretary of PCRM, Artur Resetnicov, explained why the Communists want to have a dialogue with the parties negotiating the formation of a government coalition. He said during a talk-show on RTR Moldova that PCRM wants to consolidate society after the elections on November 30 divided it, IPN reports.

“Those in power managed to transform the elections in a referendum regarding the external orientation of the country. It's dangerous. People didn't vote for electoral programs but for geopolitical vectors. Part of the people voted for the EU, others for the Customs Union. I think these were the dirtiest elections in the history of Moldova. As such, society was divided even more”, said Resetnicov.

The Communist explained that despite the actions of the former government parties, PCRM is ready to strike a deal with them not in order to obtain some offices, but to help the country recover. “The Parliament hasn't been working for half a year, the country enters the new year without a budget. In fact, this isn't only a political crisis, it's a social-economic one and conflicts within society are the worst. We don't want to cancel the Association Agreement as some would have you believe, we just want to negotiate with our European partners those points that disadvantage our country. We have a lot of work to do in order to consolidate society and achieve social peace”, said Resetnicov.

Commenting on the Communist's dwindling constituency, Resetnicov said that PCRM became the hostage of a honest electoral strategy. “We didn't lie to scare the people with various threats from the East or the West. Also, both right-wing and left-wing parties did their best to dent our score. Then there was this clone party of the so-called Communist Reformists. Even worse, we had people within PCRM working against the party”, explained the PCRM secretary.
