A woman aged 84 from Basarabeasca town suffered carbon dioxide poisoning. The woman entered the cellar of the house where the wine was fermenting and could not get out. The relatives called the 112 service. The rescuers took the woman out and handed her over to a medical team for being offered medical care, IPN reports.

The General Inspectorate for Emergencies urges caution and to avoid staying long in cellars where the wine is fermenting, especially if the cellars are not outfitted with ventilation systems. In general, it is recommended that the fermentation process should take place in open spaces.

According to the Inspectorate, five persons died after suffering carbon dioxide poisoning in 2017 while the wine was under fermentation.
