The rescuers intervened in a number of settlements to pump water out as a result of the recent torrential rain. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, in Hincăuți village of Edineț district, the firefighters pumped the water out of a yard that was likely to flood the house.

Contacted by IPN for details, Mayor of Hincăuți Gennady Dascăl said the house is situated near the main artery of the village where water accumulates after heavy rain. During the rehabilitation works on the road, the drainage channel was blocked and they now face this problem. The water flows into the yard nearby and rescuers are often called out. The local authorities cannot intervene as the central road is not managed by them. They intend to make approaches to the district authorities.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations also said that the rescuers pumped water out of the basement of the school of Băhrinești village of Florești district and of the cellar of a household in Prajila village of Florești district.

The State Hydrometeorological Service for May 19 forecast precipitation and high winds of up to 15-20 m/s. In this connection, the Inspectorate warns the owners and managers of ponds to examine the levees and calls on those who look after minors to supervise them and not to allow them to go to rivers and lakes. In emergencies, one can call the 112 Service.
