The Constitutional Court (CC) on February 16 rejected the request to suspend the effect of the President’s decree of February 11 by which the candidate for Prime Minister was nominated, but set the date of the public meeting in which the application submitted by the Socialist MPs will be examined, IPN reports.
The CC meeting to examine the application filed by MPs Vasile Bolea, Grigore Novac and Alexandr Suhodolski will take place on February 23, starting at 10am.
The Socialist MPs asked the CC to pronounce on the constitutionality of the decree to nominate again Natalia Gavrilița for premiership that was signed by President Maia Sandu and to suspend the effect of the decree until a final judgment is passed. According to the Socialists, Maia Sandu proposed again Natalia Gavrilița for Prime Minister after the first attempt to vote in the Government failed even if there was a majority consisting 54 MPs who suggested Mariana Durleșteanu for Premier.
They noted President Sandu violated the Constitution, CC judgments and the oath she took when being installed.
