The Constitutional Court rejected Democratic candidate Iurie Urzică’s request to recount the votes cast in the February 24 elections in single-member constituency No. 4 Râșcani, IPN reports.

Iuire Urzică argued there are discrepancies between the data inserted in the vote records of some of the polling stations. According to the former candidate, these violations are serious and affect the election results and the distribution of seats.

Analyzing the provided arguments and the electoral documents presented by the Central Election Commission, the Constitutional Court decided to reject the vote recount request. According to the Court, Iurie Urzică didn’t present evidence showing the election results were affected indeed.

The Constitutional Court’s decision is definitive, cannot be appealed, takes effect when it is adopted and is published in the Official Gazette.

According to the Central Election Commission, in single-member constituency No. 4 Râșcani, the Party of Socialists’ candidate Vladimir Mizdrenko won 42.96% of the vote, while the Democratic Party’s candidate Iurie Urzică – 42.34%. The difference in votes is of 170.
