Republican Stadium changes its owners

Republican Stadium of the capital might change its owners, after examining the possibility of its reorganization into an open joint stock company. At its turn, the modification shall contribute to attracting investors in reconstruction works of the stadium. According to a Government communiqué, this decision was taken during the meeting of several decision-making bodies, convoked by prime minister Vasile Tarlev. It also was agreed at the meeting that, until 1 May 2006, a reconstruction plan of the sports venue shall be presented in order to start the works as soon as possible. The announced changes are done as result of the analysis of the present situation of the Republican Stadium. The Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Victor Tvircun, mentioned that this building was managed incorrectly more than a decade, resulting in this disastrous situation. At the moment, SA „Republican Stadium” has huge debts, concluding non-advantageous leasing contracts. The sportive venue needs a general renovation as well. The Prime Minister noted that it is necessary to undertake all measures in order to revive this sports venue, which could serve to development of national performance sports, it could be used as sports base for organizing trainings, national competitions, as well as organizing trainings for sports schools of Moldova.
