The Republican Clinic Hospital (RCH) will be sued by the parents of a 5 year old boy, who died in this institution because of the lack of an electric power generator. Ilie Cojocaru, the boy’s father, has said on Monday, November 27 at a press conference that his son was subjected to a surgery on October 6. The surgical operation was conducted by an Italian specialist. “After the surgery, the doctors of the Cardiology Department of the RCH announced us that the surgery was successful and we all believed that the boy will get well”, Ilie Cojocaru declared. After 12 hours, around 7 o’clock in the morning, the supply of electric power to the hospital was interrupted for 2 hours. As a consequence, the reanimation devices the boy was connected to stopped functioning and the condition of the boy worsened because of oxygen insufficiency. The health condition of the child continued to worsen and he died on November 10. The boy was the only child of the family and his birth was awaited by the Cojocaru family for 15 years. According to Ilie Cojocaru, the boy would have lived if at that moment the RCH would have had an electric power generator. Within the frameworks of the same press conference, the public organization “Moldova mea” engaged itself to support in Court the Cojocaru family and to find out how many similar cases happened in Moldova. Chief Doctor of the Republican Clinic Hospital, Mihai Ous was not available to comment on the case.
