Representatives of Moldovan diaspora from 27 countries to come to Chisinau

The fourth Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora that will take place in Chisinau during October 12-14 will bring together delegates from 27 countries. About 100 persons are expected to be attending, Info-Prim Neo reports. The program of the Congress includes four sessions. The delegates will discuss the cooperation with the diaspora, as a priority of Moldova’s foreign and home policy, protection of the rights of the diaspora, educational, cultural and scientific activity, maintaining of the ethnolinguistic vitality. According to a communiqué from the Interethnic Relations Bureau, for the first time the Congress will analyze ways of strengthening cooperation between Moldova and the diaspora, and between the members of the diaspora. The International Organization for Migration will organize training seminars and will provide grants for the diaspora. The additional program includes exhibitions of national costumes and handicrafts. Representatives of the Moldovan diaspora will go on a trip to the monastic complex “Curchi” and will take part in the festivities held to celebrate Chisinau’s Day. The event is organized by the Government of Moldova in cooperation with the Interethnic Relations Bureau and the International Organization for Migration. The first Congress was held in 2004.
