The representatives of civil society who took part in the consultations on the formation of a new government, held by the designated candidate for the post of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, consider corruption fighting must be the key objective of the future Cabinet. Such statements were made in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
The deputy head of the National Participation Council Antonita Fonari noted that the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior must continue the reforms implemented by the current acting ministers, even if these institutions are managed by other persons. “Both of the ministries started rather good reforms that must be continued. That’s why the future Government must take care for these reforms not to be stopped,” she said.
Dumitru Ivanov, who heads the Board of the Education and Science Trade Union, said that to achieve results in the fight against corruption, the Government must increase the salaries of budget-funded employees, while Maia Sandu should be kept as Minister of Education. “What Maia Sandu does is welcome. We are for reforms in the education system. The curriculum should be reviewed and the huge workload imposed on children should be reduced so that they go to school with pleasure,” he stated.
Alexandru Slusari, head of the Union of Agricultural Producers, said the future Government must focus on three major tasks: to eradicate corruption, to liquidate the underground economy and to remove the cartel agreements. “We must not invent the bicycle. If we fight against the doctors and teachers who accepted a hen to feed their families, we will not combat corruption. We will prove that we fight corruption when high-ranking officials are jailed and the case of Banca de Economii should be the first test,” he stated.
