Repair works on Chisinau streets partially halted

A large part of the street repair works in Chisinau were stopped owing to the unfavorable weather conditions. The workers will be unable to put the final layer of asphalt until spring, Info-Prim Neo reports. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca on October 17 said works will be performed to lay the lower stratum of asphalt, while the final layer will be put in spring. As to the preparation of the streets for winter, such works as the stopping up and other auxiliary works like the paving of sidewalks will go on. “The equalizing layer may be put in continuation and can be used on a temporary basis, until spring. There is a certain discomfort because the piping system is not as it should and we will have to travel with great care on the given streets. Anyway, I think it is better than earlier,” said the mayor. Works to prepare the roads for winter were carried out last week on 18 streets.
