Passengers, who take the Chisinau – Ocnita route, on the train renovated in Romania, prefer tickets for the 1st and 2nd classes. The number of those who opt for the social class alternative is smaller. Although the tickets for the first two classes are more expensive, the passengers opt for more comfort.
General Director of the Moldovan Railway Company (CFM) Vitalie Struna told Info-Prim Neo that a month since its opening, the renovated train is very popular. About 85-95 tickets are sold during the week, while in the weekend all of the places are sold. “Sometimes, entire families travel, and buy return tickets. Sometimes people came and asked if the old or the renovated train was the next, and if it was the old one, they delayed their trip”, said the CFM director.
If initially it was expected that social class tickets would be the most demanded because they were cheaper, the director now says that the first two class tickets are the most popular, and then the social class tickets.
All wagons are equipped with air conditioners, TV sets, Internet, video surveillance, and power plugs. The only difference between wagons is the number and comfort of chairs. The first class also has tables.
The renovated train circulates only on odd days and stops only in district capitals. On the other days, passengers go by another train. The tickets for the renovated train cost 61.50 lei for 1st class, 37.7 lei for 2nd class and 26.10 for social class.
