The renewable energy market in the Republic of Moldova has extremely high potential, both in terms of solar and wind energy. There is quite a lot of potential in Moldova for both wind and hydro, said Ana Nedea, strategy and business development director at the Romanian company Simtel, a market leader in the construction and maintenance of photovoltaic power stations, IPN reports.

Ana Nedea noted that Simtel is a group that operates nationally and internationally. And a first step in terms of internationalization was the creation of headquarters and a subsidiary in the Republic of Moldova: Solar System, which was founded in 2022. “We wanted to contribute to the development and transition of the Republic of Moldova to the renewable energy area. We found in the Republic of Moldova a market in full process of transformation and a rather big desire for change, dynamics that we wanted to support differently. As I said, in 2022 we opened the headquarters there and continuously increased the team. At the moment, we have an office, a logistics warehouse, a country manager, a project manager and a technical team,” the strategy and business development director of Simtel said in an interview for Independent News.

Ana Nedea also said that at the moment, the Republic of Moldova is energy dependent on the neighboring countries and this emphasizes once again the need to focus as much as possible on the renewable area and to ensure a higher share of renewable energies in the energy mix. “First of all, we at Simtel can contribute because we are a Romanian company. We can contribute through our work and experience because one of the challenges we faced there is probably the yet insufficient awareness of the need for investments in the renewable area. And this comes with a lack of experience and expertise. But, from this point of view, we came with an open heart and with all our knowhow and expertise to bring quality and well-implemented projects, which have a lifespan of at least 20 years,” noted the company's representative.

Asked about the advantages of the Moldovan market, Ana Nedea said that for an investor from Romania, the proximity to Romania is an important aspect. The fact that we share the same culture and language is an important asset in terms of effective communication. Moldova’s highway, which is currently under construction, will represent an extremely important step for both Moldova and Romania in terms of exports and will facilitate practically any kind of interaction between the two countries. “The high human potential that we identified there, well-trained people, and the costs in terms of human resources are low compared to Romania, if we think so. Last but not least, the Republic of Moldova is a growing market,” stated Ana Nedea.

Simtel is a Romanian engineering and technology company listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange and a market leader in the construction and maintenance of photovoltaic power station.
