The leader of the “Our” Party Renato Usatyi said Banca de Economii was already empty when the state-owned shareholding in it was put up for sale, before the private investors came. The politician made such statements in the talk show “Interpol” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.
“I remember that when the private investors were purchasing the shareholding, there was nothing in the bank as it had been cleared up already,” stated Usatyi.
Similar appraisals were formulated, directly or indirectly, by high-ranking officials in the May 7 parliamentary hearing, including the governor of the National Bank of Moldova, director of the National Anticorruption Center and the prosecutor general. These admitted that in 2007 already, Banca de Economii made no profit and sustained huge losses owing to the released bad loans.
