In Ilyichovca commune of Florești district, the most votes at the new local elections were won by Irina Volchuk of the "Renaissance" Party. But the local electoral body canceled her registration and the decision was upheld by the court. The litigation continues in the court of appeals, IPN reports.
According to the preliminary data presented by the Central Election Commission, 275 electors voted for Irina Volchuk of the "Renaissance" Party, which represents 58% of the vote. For the independent candidate Fyodor Belyi, 199 locals voted, which constitutes 42% of the ballot.
In this connection, the CEC noted that, according to the Ilyichovca Communal Electoral District Council’s decision of November 30, the registration of candidate Irina Volchuk was canceled. By the CEC’s decision of the same day, the appeals submitted by the candidate's representative were rejected, and the decision of the local electoral body was maintained.
On Sunday, the Central Court of Soroca district rejected as unfounded the administrative lawsuit filed in the interests of Irina Volchuk against the Ilyichovca Communal Electoral District Council, upholding electoral bodies’ decisions to cancel the registration. The litigation continues at the Balti Court of Appeals.
Also on Sunday, new local elections were held in Boșcana commune of Criuleni district. The mayoralty was won by the candidate of the Party of Action and Solidarity Viorica Stăvilă. As many as 564 electors (50.9%) voted for her, while her challenger, independent candidate Sergei Catan, gained 545 votes or 49.1% of the ballot.
