Remand center of Leova Police Commissariat closed

The Ministry of the Interior closed the remand center of the Leova Police Commissariat. The decision was made after ombudsman Anatolie Munteanu informed about the deviations from the detention norms that he identified at the center, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Center for Human Rights. “The Ministry of the Interior is a partner of the Center for Human Rights in ensuring the respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms,” says the communique. The ombudsman recommends organizing professional formation and training courses on the general and special obligations of the personnel of the internal affairs bodies so as to cultivate intolerance of acts of torture.
