Representatives of a number of non-governmental and religious organizations protested Friday in front of the Parliament's building against the draft Law on preventing and countering discrimination. They claim passing the law would lead to demoralizing society, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Many of the protesters have said they have come “because they were told so in the church.” The protesters say they are not against the law, but against the term “sexual orientation” from the project.
“The law is not Christian in its current version, it's against God. We hope and believe the parliamentarians have brains and parental education. If the law is passed it will be clear what kind of MPs we have,” said a priest at the manifestation.
The law is part of the project “Promoting non-discriminatory policies in Moldova”, with a budget of 62,000 euros and financed by the Swedish Helsinki Committee and the Budapest-based Open Society Institute.
Members of a coalition called “for the defense of family and morality” used to say earlier that introducing the nation “sexual orientation” into the draft offers the sexual minorities all the rights in a package, jeopardizing the family institution. The Government will light green to sexual minorities to penetrate into education institutions, to be very near to children and being likely to influence, manipulate or even recruit them into homosexual associations.
