After consulting teachers, parents and NGOs, the Government decided that beginning September 1, religion will be taught in 1st-11th grades as an optional course, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Minister of Education Leonid Bujor says the curriculum and necessary materials for this course will be ready on time. A special national seminar will take place in August to train selected teachers to teach religion. According to Bujor, religion was taught optionally in 120 schools until now. He is confident their number will grow as a result of the Government’s decision.
